The compact Canon PowerShot SX260 HS is an ideal travel companion, with a 20x optical zoom, Full HD movie, and GPS information. HS System and Intelligent IS stand for best results. Everything in view with the 25mm wide-angle lens or extremely close up with 20x optical zoom and up to 39x ZoomPlus, the modern zoom technology that offers far more detail and image sharpness than the conventional digital zoom. And yet the housing is so compact that the camera can be anywhere to capture the most beautiful moments. The HS System shines in low light conditions - ideal for capturing the magic of a mood even without flash or tripod. The advanced DIGIC 5 processor and the highly sensitive 12.1 MP CMOS sensor together ensure convincing image quality in all situations. GPS provides photos and movies with location data and documents your adventure trips. With the Map Utility software (included) the location can even be shown on the map and passed on to friends. The Intelligent IS compensates camera shake so that images are sharp and clear even when shooting with high zoom or low light. It adjusts the optical image stabilizer to one of seven different modes depending on the scene and minimizes blur.

The Canon PowerShot SX260 HS is the successor of the Canon PowerShot SX230 HS. Its 20x zoom lens covers a very wide focal length range. The wide-angle starts at a very good 25 millimeters, the tele end is only reached at 500 millimeters (35mm equivalent). An optical image stabilizer (IS) is also included. As known from other models in the SX series, unlike many other digital cameras, the program dial is located on the back of the camera.
